Is one of your New Years resolutions to take better care of yourself in 2018? Are you interested in trying yoga to lower stress as well as build strength and flexibility? Join Ami Bass, LCSW, RYT at Zardus Art of Massage and Wellness Spa for a 4 week series emphasizing the basics of yoga for beginners or those wishing to strengthen the foundation of their yoga practice. Yoga is the practice of aligning the mind with the breath and the body through movement to cultivate overall well-being and experience a deep release of tension. Participants can expect to build some physical heat through a slow, steady flow from pose to pose while being prompted to practice mindfulness of the breath and sensations in the body.$40 to register for the series or $12 to drop in. Practicing self-compassion, i.e. being as kind and caring towards yourself in times of stress and difficulty as you would towards a loved one, has been shown to have a powerful effect on physical and emotional well-being while also increasing motivation to engage in healthy behaviors. Anybody can benefit from self-compassion and it is an excellent skill for coping with the challenges of living with a chronic health condition, ageing, parenting/caregiving, and being in a relationship. This workshop will cover the basics of what mindful self-compassion is and guidelines for cultivating a practice.
